R:evolve Recycle Celebrates 10-year Anniversary

That the Parliament congratulates R:evolve Recycle, based in Cambuslang and Rutherglen, on its 10th year of operation; understands that the organisation’s mission is to reduce fast fashion and consumer waste by creating local solutions to the global climate crisis; notes that R:evolve Recycle offers a wide variety of services in the community, including a clothing and accessories swap shop, a clothing bank, which works in partnership with local statutory bodies, Wee Jinty’s haberdashery, which offers preloved materials and mending and upcycling workshops, the Thrift and Gift store, which offers a range of designer and preloved clothing and accessories as well as reworked garments, crafts and homeware, and the Roots Café, which uses produce from local community gardens and offers a range of wellbeing activities; understands that in 2023-24, the organisation circulated over 34 tonnes of textiles, making an estimated carbon saving of 488 tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent; further understands that any income that the organisation makes is reinvested to keep the swap shop and clothing bank free for the community; pays tribute to the organisation’s staff, volunteers and partners past and present, and wishes R:evolve Recycle all the best for its continuing success.
