That the Parliament congratulates the Wishaw-based reuse platform, Reposit, and the creative charity, Hubbub, on launching Borrow Cup; notes that, in partnership with Hubbub, Reposit launched Borrow Cup in Glasgow on 27 January 2025 to demonstrate how a collaborative model can improve the success of a returnable cup scheme, and help understand how it can become environmentally, commercially and operationally viable; understands that, according to Zero Waste Scotland, 388 million disposable cups are used in Scotland each year and, in Glasgow, they make up over 30% of drinks waste in on-street bins; notes that Reposit and Hubbub will endeavour to establish pioneering collaborations with independent cafes and major brands, to create a critical mass of participating stores and a high density of return points; further notes that Reposit and Hubbub plan to use cup tracking, reporting data and independent lifecycle analysis to measure uptake, returns and environmental impact, to determine how the system can become environmentally and financially viable; recognises that the brand new returnable cup scheme is available at over 40 locations across Glasgow, including local cafes and popular chains; congratulates Reposit on receiving the prestigious STV Green Fund Award at The VIBES Scottish Environment Business Awards; understands that The VIBES Scottish Environment Business Awards, which are led by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), reward and recognise organisations that have demonstrated significant business benefits from good environmental practice, and commends Reposit for its innovative approach and the action that it has taken to build a sustainable circular economy.
