Aberdeen Foodie Fortnight

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 08 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14049

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks will return to the city in September 2024; notes that the "Foodie Fortnight" event, which is run by Aberdeen Inspired, will run from 2 September to 15 September, with 65 restaurants already signed up to take part, offering special lunch and dinner menus priced at £10, £15, £20 or £25, as well as special dishes; understands that the previous event, in January 2024, saw a boost of £455,000 to the Aberdeen economy and an increase in footfall of 20%; notes that this event will see the introduction of a "Foodie Passport", which aims to encouraging diners to take advantage of as many deals as possible for the chance to win a free meal for two every month for a year; believes that, since their inception in 2018, Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks have been important events for encouraging people into the city centre, and hopes that this September's event will be every bit as successful as the previous ones.
