100 years of Dalziel Rugby Club

  • Submitted by: Gillian Mackay, Central Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 12 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12139

That the Parliament congratulates Dalziel Rugby Club, in Motherwell, on its centenary year; understands that the club first started in 1924 with a game against Uddingston Rugby Club in which Dalziel won 9-5; further understands that throughout its history, the club has developed young players and made contributions to the Lanarkshire, Glasgow District and National Rugby Teams with a number of under-18, under-19 and under-20 players gaining international honours at those levels; commends the club for what it sees as its outstanding effort to increase participation in sport in the local communities, and wishes the club all the very best for the next 100 years and more.
