Congratulating Watch Commander David Gibson Penicuik Fire Station

That the Parliament recognises the service of Watch Commander, David Gibson, based at Penicuik Community Fire Station, who has been awarded the King’s Fire Service Medal (KFSM); understands that WC Gibson has spent over 44 years helping to protect his local community whilst balancing his role with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) with working full time as a mental health nurse until he retired from the NHS in 2021; further understands that WC Gibson was also involved in the integration of the Scottish Ambulance Service co-location at Penicuik Community Fire Station in 2022, and has also become a Wellbeing Champion for SFRS, providing support to colleagues in the Midlothian, East Lothian and Scottish Borders areas; thanks WC Gibson for his exceptional service, and expresses its ongoing gratitude to all emergency workers who keep Scotland’s communities safe.
