That the Parliament congratulates Healthy and Active in East Kilbride, which has been a key part of the town’s community for 20 years; commends everyone involved in the organisation for all their great work in conjunction with partner organisations to promote health and wellbeing; understands that the charity has delivered an ever-increasing range of services within the community to help local people, regardless of their circumstances, including Shopmobility, Support at Home, exercise classes, and arts and crafts, as well as signposting and support for mental health; believes that the new Healthy and Active in East Kilbride electric minibus service, which offers wheelchair-accessible transport and affordable ticket costs, is a fantastic community asset, and applauds the friendly volunteer drivers who help connect the community to the Meeting Place Café; considers that the Café has been a brilliant community hub for more than a decade, offering a warm welcome and supportive space for everyone; understands that Healthy and Active in East Kilbride also offers outdoor programmes, events and activities to assist with the local mission to become more sustainable; further understands that the charity’s transition to a community anchor organisation in 2020 enabled it to become a key voice within the East Kilbride Third Sector Locality Network; believes that all of these services are only possible with the amazing and dedicated team of staff, board members and volunteers, who it considers go above and beyond to ensure the continuing success of the services, and wishes Healthy and Active in East Kilbride all the best for the future.
