Glasgow’s Drumchapel to Receive £14.9 Million of UK Government Levelling Up Funding

  • Submitted by: Dr Sandesh Gulhane, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 23 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11357

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that £14.9 million has been awarded from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund for the regeneration of Drumchapel town centre; understands that the plan for the regeneration of the town includes improving community facilities, building new housing and active travel routes, addressing localised flooding problems and introducing new dedicated greenspaces; notes that the award forms part of a £122 million UK Government investment in six projects to improve towns and cities across Scotland; understands that this funding takes the total UK Government direct investment in Scotland up to almost £2.7 billion, and believes that the investment in the town centre of Drumchapel will make a transformational change for people and businesses in the community, improving connectivity, creating retail opportunities and boosting the economy of the town.
