  • Submitted by: Donald Cameron, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 19 October 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10887

That the Parliament congratulates Rockfield Community Hub on being shortlisted in the Improving Scotland's Places category of the prestigious 2023 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration, which identifies and celebrates best practice, innovation, and achievement in interventions that improve Scottish communities; understands that the Rockfield Community Hub was the result of a community campaign in 2014 to rescue the former Rockfield Primary School building, and that it is now owned by the Oban Communities Trust; recognises that the Hub offers a wide range of community services and events, including art exhibitions, heritage talks, live music, a Young Archaeologists’ Club, and a community café, and wishes the Rockfield Community Hub the best of luck at the SURF Awards and for more successes in the years to come.
