The National Lottery’s Community Fund to Offer Funds for Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed

  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 02 October 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10695

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed is set to receive funding from the National Lottery’s Community Fund; believes that the group will use the funds towards its first year of expenses in its new unit to help pay the electricity and rental fees; understands that the group is a charitable not-for-profit organisation and has been working hard to renovate an industrial unit; further understands that the aim of the group is to provide a safe space where men can work on projects and hobbies and get involved in activities to increase their health and wellbeing; commends Chairman, George Rae, volunteers and all involved for their hard work, which, it believes, will benefit the community, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
