That the Parliament recognises the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Redding Pit Disaster, which was held on 23 September 2023; understands that the event was organised by the Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers, to remember the 40 men from the Braes villages who tragically lost their lives in the disaster that unfolded on 25 September 1923; understands that the Redding Pit Disaster, where pit number 23 was flooded following an inrush of water, was the worst in the history of the Scottish coalfield, with devastating impacts upon a small mining community; notes that pupils from Wallacestone Primary, Shieldhill Primary and California Primary School all played an integral part in the event, carrying flags of commemoration; recognises the Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers for its organisation of this commemoration, and thanks it for its efforts to ensure that the men from the Braes villages who lost their lives in this tragic event are honoured and not forgotten.
