That the Parliament welcomes the recent announcement by Merck of 450 new jobs at the West of Scotland Science Park, in the Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn constituency; understands that this is part of a £30 million investment into its facilities in Glasgow and Stirling, with the works expected to be completed by 2027; believes that the funding will see a new 1,200 sq m facility at the Science Park, which will house molecular biology and sequencing services, along with expanding testing capacity; understands that the additional jobs will complement the 700 jobs already in place over the two locations; looks forward to further high-quality jobs in the West of Scotland Science Park; thanks Merck for the continued confidence shown in its Maryhill facility with this significant investment; believes that this is a tribute to the dedicated, skilled and innovative team at Merck, and wishes it well as it continues to thrive within the global life science sector.
