River Tweed Health Plan Revealed

That the Parliament recognises the launch of Tweed Forum's five-year action plan to improve the health of the River Tweed; understands that the new Tweed Catchment Management Plan 2023-28 is out for consultation, with views being sought from anyone with an interest in the River Tweed and its tributaries; further understands that this plan aims to boost the Tweed's water quality, while improving habitat for species such as salmon, reduce flood risks and bolster its reputation as a world famous tourist attraction; understands that the River Tweed contributes around £24 million a year to the local economy in the Scottish Borders and north of England through fishing and other activities, while supporting over 500 jobs, and commends Tweed Forum and the River Tweed Commission on their endeavours to ensure a sustainable future for the iconic Scottish Borders river.
