That the Parliament notes what it sees as the shocking findings from the recent survey conducted by the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU); considers that it is a damning indictment of the terms, conditions and pay of food workers, when so many cannot afford the food that they produce and are not paid enough to meet their basic needs, such as feeding their family and heating their homes; is angered that four in 10 respondents reported having to skip meals for financial reasons, whilst one in five said that they have had to use food banks; believes that it is unacceptable that, at a time when food inflation has hit levels not seen in the UK for decades, workers are left unable to afford the products from their own labour; further believes that every citizen has the right to food and that they should not feel insecure about where their next meal is coming from, and considers that a minimum wage of at least £15 an hour would allow all workers to pay for their basic needs and live a life of dignity that comes from well-paid and fair work.
