  • Submitted by: Michelle Thomson, Falkirk East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 18 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08972

That the Parliament recognises the generosity of staff at the Earls Gate branch of McDonald’s restaurant, in Grangemouth, in raising funds to support the work of Grangemouth Stags Rugby Club; understands that a sum of £15,000 was donated to the rugby club to support and encourage more young people to participate in the sport; recognises that the work of Grangemouth Stags already supports the provision of rugby coaching across local communities for both adults and children, with players ranging from five to 80 years old; understands that this donation will be utilised to extend rugby provision access to pre-school children, helping their early years development while providing a space for them to socialise and learn new life skills; recognises that this donation was made possible by the McDonald’s in the Community Foundation, an initiative that involves cross-franchise co-operation between various branches of McDonald’s restaurants in facilitating distribution of funds to various charities and organisations across Scotland; congratulates all the staff at the Earls Gate McDonald’s branch, and across the various McDonald’s franchises, for their generosity towards local charities and supporting what it sees as vital work within Scotland's communities.
