Bread Guy Bakery Success at the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards 2023-24

  • Submitted by: Liam Kerr, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 18 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08953

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen-based Bread Guy Bakery on taking the silver award for its cheese sourdough bread, and for reaching the finals of the Retail Craft Baker of the Year category at the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards 2023-24; understands that Gary McAllister and his sister, Donna McAllister, founded the Bread Guy Bakery in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, in 2019 to bring traditional, artisan bread back to the community and offer local restaurants the opportunity to put it back on the menu, while keeping costs low to compete directly with supermarkets; notes that the Bread Guy Bakery opened a new shop, in April 2023, in the Hazlehead area of Aberdeen, and wishes Gary, Donna and their employees every success with the business in the future.
