Choose the Bus

  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 15 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08905

That the Parliament welcomes the Choose the Bus campaign, which is running in May 2023; understands that it is co-funded by the Scottish Government and members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport Scotland and that it was launched by the Minster for Transport with Borders Buses at the Galashiels Transport Interchange on 9 May 2023; understands that the campaign aims to highlight the financial and environmental benefits, and convenience, of bus travel for people of all ages, in particular encouraging people who are aged over 60 to return to using the bus; notes that free bus travel is available in Scotland for those aged under 22, over 60 and for people with a disability, and hopes that the campaign will encourage people across Scotland to choose the bus more often for connecting, for example, with family and friends, visiting the shops and for leisure purposes.
