That the Parliament believes that zero hours contracts are bad for workers and bad for businesses; considers that they create a culture of insecurity, leaving workers unable to plan their personal finances and caring arrangements; further considers that they contribute to recruitment and retention problems for employers; understands that, according to the Office for National Statistics, 94,000 people in Scotland are on a zero hours contract; calls on all private and public sector employers to reject the use of zero hours contracts and instead, provide more secure contracts for all workers, and encourages all employers who do not use zero hours contracts to support the Zero Hours Justice campaign and sign up for their accreditation scheme.
