That the Parliament celebrates Garioch Young Farmers member, Finlay Hunter from West Cairnhill, near Insch, who was supreme champion and won the Calladrum Cup for the best overwintered animal at the 2023 Young Farmers overwintering competition, which was held at the Thainstone Centre; recognises that Finlay, who is 14 years old, competed for the first time in 2023 with a 13-month-old Charolais cross heifer weighing 522kg; congratulates Faith Miskelly for having, it understands, the second highest trade with 17-month-old British blue cross heifer weighing 570kg from Corrybrae, Kildrummy, Alford, which was sold back to her breeders, the Young family from East Sinnahard, Glenkindie, Alford, and won Faith the highest gross margin of £1,750 over 216 days; commends all the 40 young farmers from the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Club’s north area who participated at the competition, and wishes them every success in the future.
