That the Parliament acknowledges 23 March 2023 as the anniversary of the signing of both the Lahore Resolution by the Muslim League at the Minar-e-Pakistan calling for the creation of an independent sovereign state, and the enforcement of the Constitution of Pakistan; understands that the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of Pakistan on 29 February 1956, and that it was enforced on 23 March 1956, transitioning Pakistan from a dominion to become the first Islamic republic; further understands that from this date, 23 March has been celebrated as Pakistan Day; notes that the Consul General of the Republic of Pakistan for Scotland and Northern Ireland will hoist the Pakistani flag at the Consulate of Pakistan on the day; welcomes what it sees as the progress of Pakistan as a democratic country and extends its good wishes to all Pakistanis in Scotland, and across the world, in marking Pakistan Day.
