  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 November 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06543

That the Parliament congratulates Uddingston-based Emtec Energy on winning the Alan Clark Award for Local/Community Energy at the Solar & Storage LIVE Awards 2022; notes that Solar & Storage LIVE was held between 18 and 20 October at the NEC Birmingham and is the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition, bringing together the solar, storage and EV industries; understands that the award recognised Emtec Energy’s Aberdeenshire Smart Solar and Storage project, which involved installing Solar Photo Voltaic and Battery Storage retrofits on 500 Aberdeenshire Council social housing properties in the Macduff and Inverurie areas to alleviate grid constraints on local networks, reduce fuel poverty and improve the environmental rating of the council’s housing stock; further understands that the majority of tenants have experienced significant reductions in their energy costs, with more than 50% of their energy consumed now being from solar power and battery storage; recognises that Emtec Energy’s Smart Solar and Storage project was also crowned winner of Scotland's Large Project of the Year at the Energy Efficiency Awards 2022, and has been shortlisted for the Best Community Project Award in the Scottish Green Energy Awards 2022, and wishes all the nominees at the Scottish Green Energy Awards, to be held on 1 December, every success and the brightest of futures as they power what it sees as Scotland’s green energy revolution.
