In Memory of James Russell Brownlie, Former President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)

That the Parliament marks the sad passing of James Russell Brownlie; understands that Mr Brownlie was a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and served as president of the institution between 1982 and 1983; acknowledges Mr Brownlie’s dedication to the profession and his receipt of a Distinguished Service Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA); considers that Mr Brownlie’s conviction in championing occupational safety has helped to save many lives and protect the rights of workers across the country, ensuring a lasting legacy; understands that Mr Brownlie was a committed and valued contributor to the Cross-party Group on Accident Prevention and Safety Awareness; commends Mr Brownlie on his tireless efforts to raise awareness of occupational safety and other safety issues, and sends its deepest condolences to his loved ones at this difficult time.
