  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04647

That the Parliament commends the Shakespeare Street Youth Club on being awarded £159,154 from the National Lottery to continue to deliver a range of youth activities for people aged up to 18 from the Maryhill and Wyndford area; understands that the funds will allow the club to engage 360 young people, supported by 30 volunteers, over the next three years; thanks all the staff and volunteers who have committed to providing activities and opportunities to young people from the area for over 60 years, making "the Shakey", it believes, to be the longest running youth club in Scotland; acknowledges that the venue has been a valued base for many activities, not only for children and young people, but for also various community activities, such as mother and toddlers groups, dance classes, Tai Chi, Tai Kwando and a Spiritualists' Church over many years, and looks forward to families and groups continuing to benefit from the services offered at the Shakey for many years to come.
