  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 04 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03416

That the Parliament congratulates the S5 pupils of Kirkintilloch High School for consistently championing good causes that have an impact in their community; delights at their recent fundraising efforts in organising events that pupils and staff could take part in, such as sporting activities and pie the teacher; understands that staff in the Religious Education team encourage pupils to take part annually in Scotland's Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), whose framework has attracted the participation of more than 230,000 young people in raising over £5 million for good causes since its launch in 2008; commends the efforts of all competing groups at Kirkintilloch High School in engaging with several charities before donating £3,000 to Women's Aid; understands that the funds will benefit the survivors of domestic abuse, as a charity whose impact is felt locally, and wishes head teacher, Maureen Daniel, staff, pupils and their families every success in their continued altruistic activities.
