  • Submitted by: Clare Haughey, Rutherglen, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 07 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02856.1

As an amendment to motion S5M-02856 in the name of Adam Tomkins (New £10 Million MRI Scanner at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital), after “multiple sclerosis” insert “; looks forward to patients in Glasgow and across Scotland benefiting from this advanced technology; understands that the scanner will be housed in the new Imaging Centre of Excellence research and development facility at the hospital and that the University of Glasgow acknowledges that this is an important development that would not have been possible without £2.3 million of EU funding; further understands that the university acknowledges that the ability to form collaborations across Europe, and also bring skilled staff from the EU to work on such advanced technology, will be a key part of the long-term success of the project; considers that continued EU funding for such vital and commendable projects will be put in jeopardy if Scotland is dragged out of the EU against the will of the Scottish people, and calls on the UK Government to provide urgent assurances that continued support for such funding and collaborations in Scotland will be guaranteed post-Brexit.”
