To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S4W-08694 by Alex Neil on 9 August 2012, for what reason there was a reduction in the number of completions through the Open Market Shared Equity Scheme in Falkirk from 21 in 2009-10 to 11 in 2010-11 and 2 in 2011-12.
Answer
In 2009-10, the Open Market Shared Equity Pilot was extended across all of Scotland and available to all first time buyers. In 2010-11, the scheme was available to help waiting list applicants from the previous year and when there were no waiting list applicants remaining, the scheme was made available to priority group applicants only (which included social renters, service members of the armed forces, armed forces veterans and disabled people). In 2011-12, the Open Market Shared Equity Scheme was available to priority group applicants only. The scheme is demand led and the number of completions in each year will depend on the number of people in each area who apply to the scheme, how many of these people are eligible to participate in the scheme, and how many go on to successfully purchase a property.
