To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has undertaken any research into the impact of diet on the behaviour of children held in secure accommodation and, if not, whether it will do so.
Answer
No specific research has been undertaken in this area and there currently no plans to do so. Practice within secure accommodation continues to be informed by wider research and resulting initiatives focussing on young peoples’ diet such as the Hungry for Success scheme which is expected to be implemented in all primary, secondary and special schools by December 2006.
