To ask the Scottish Government what recent assessment it has made of the price of private rented accommodation in Aberdeen.
Answer
Information on the price of rented accommodation at a local authority level is not held centrally.
Planning authorities are required to examine local rent levels as part of their Housing Need and Demand Assessments (HNDAs) which are then appraised by the Scottish Government. Information about the price of private rents in Aberdeen is available in the Aberdeen City and Shire HNDA (2010) and the 2011 HNDA update. Links are provided below.

To ask the Scottish Government what information it has on how many people in (a) Aberdeen and (b) Aberdeenshire will be affected by the proposed changes to housing benefits.
Answer
Table 3 in the following paper gives an estimate of the number of households affected by the under-occupancy penalty by local authority.
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Housing/supply-demand/chma/Benefitchanges/BenefitChangesUnderOccupancy
The paper is from May 2011 and gives a slightly earlier estimate of the numbers affected. Our current estimate is that around 105,000 households will be affected by the under-occupancy penalty.
