To ask the Scottish Executive how many patients have undergone operations to treat a fracture in each month of the last year, broken down by NHS board.
There is no definitive list of operations which relate to the specific treatment of fractures. The range of procedures which may be performed to treat fractures may also be performed for other clinical reasons. Thus, the precise number patients who undergo an operation to treat a fracture is not available from central records.
The numbers of hospital stays at which a fracture diagnosis and an operation which may be related to the fracture are recorded is shown in the table below. These data are broken down by NHS board of treatment and calendar month, for the latest available 12 month period.
