The Scottish Prison Service does not record data for attempted or planned acts of self-harm. Three establishments, where young offenders are principally located, have recorded acts of self harm by young offenders since 2008. The figures are as follows:

The activity which colleges are funded to deliver is the responsibility of the Scottish Funding Council, not ministers. The key consideration in any funding decision is the interests of learners and the quality of the education they receive. The funding council has made clear that, should courses be transferred from Stow, it wishes to work with the college to plan an effective transition and to ensure that Stow College remains viable.

The Scottish Government''s 2010-11 Budget, which was approved by majority vote in the Parliament, seeks to protect frontline services and prioritise economic recovery in the face of the significant spending reductions imposed by the previous UK Government.

The budget included an average increase of 2.7% in funding for NHS boards and, for a third successive year, an increase in the proportionate share of the overall Scottish budget allocated to local government, which had been in steady decline under the previous administration.
