To ask the Scottish Executive whether the current take-up rate of influen'a vaccines is acceptable and what plans it has to increase the take-up rate of such vaccines.
Answer
The uptake of influenza vaccine to end October 2002 was an average of 54.3% across the country. This figure compares well to figures of 45.4% and 43.1% to end of October 2000 and 2001 respectively. The publicity surrounding the Executive's £12 million flu campaign is now drawing to a close but those in the field continue to work to encourage a high uptake of immunisation amongst at risk patients. The target uptake for 2002-03 is 70%.

To ask the Scottish Executive what action it is taking to ensure that local authorities are carrying out their responsibilities with regard to flood prevention.
Answer
The amendment of the Flood Prevention (Scotland) Act 1961 in 1997, among other things, introduced a new duty on local authorities to publish a report every two years specifying:(a) any measures which the council considered it was required to take to mitigate flooding of non-agricultural land;(b) any measures already taken since publication of previous report, and(c) all occurrences of flooding of non-agricultural land since publication of previous report. These reports ensure that a council's actions to address flood risk are properly documented and open to local public scrutiny.

The Executive ran a three-month consultation process on the findings of the National Audit of Scotland's Museums and Galleries from 9 September to 6 December. This consultation process also included a seminar organised by the Scottish Museums Council on 4 November. The information submitted through the consultation will inform the creation of an action plan, to be published in spring 2003, providing a framework for the development of the museums and galleries sector in Scotland.
