To ask the Scottish Executive what arrangements are in place for the purchase of printing services by NHS boards.
The services suppliers provideunder the national Print Services contract for NHS boards and Special Health Boardsare:
(a)delivery to a central receiving point (or to desk top if required) against purchaseorders, or
(b)bulk deliveries to a central storage area for breakdown and onward shipment to customerson demand.
Theprint products contained within the scope of the contract include medical records,national forms, publications, pads, letterheads, case-note folders, labels and chequesand includes all tooling, stitching, drilling operational requirements etc.
Heads of Procurement in eachNHS board and Special Health Board were issued with a buyer’s guide for purchasingprint services. The guide advises boards that as this contract is a no opt-out frameworkagreement, all boards are expected to migrate their print requirements to theirchosen vendor(s) within the agreement as existing contracts come to an end.
