To ask the Presiding Officer what the projected budget will be for the opening ceremony of the Parliament building.
Answer
The SPCB has appointed a working group, which includes representatives of the four main parties, to make recommendations for opening both the new session of Parliament and the Holyrood complex. A maximum budget of £400,000 has been allocated, but the actual cost will depend on decisions made on the basis of those recommendations and the full allocation will not necessarily be required.

To ask the Scottish Executive why it has not directed that a public local inquiry be held into the planning application by Aberdeen Football Club for a new football stadium and other facilities at Kingswells, given that it did so for a smaller but similar application for East Middlefield Kingswells (P/PP/75/96/GA/18) on 11 July 2001.
Answer
This planning application is still under consideration by the Scottish ministers. The circumstances of the application at East Middlefield Farm were not identical to those of the football stadium application although I am aware that consideration of that case was extended for a second period of 28 days before a decision was reached.
