Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Executive what funding it has sought from the Ministry of Defence anent the treatment, care, rehabilitation and rehousing of service personnel discharged from the armed services as a result of wounds and injuries suffered in Iraq or Afghanistan.

To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-12 by Richard Lochhead on 7 June 2007, what the terms of reference will be of the review of the Fleet Renewal Programme; which persons will conduct the review; what the professional and occupational qualifications are of those conducting the review; over what period of time the review will be conducted, and whether the review and its recommendations will be (a) published, (b) available for scrutiny by the appropriate parliamentary committee and (c) brought forward for debate by the Parliament following or in advance of any committee scrutiny.

To ask the Scottish Executive what recent discussions have taken place with representatives of the Care Commission anent confidential reports or complaints from employees of residential care homes for elderly people, in both the private and public sectors, about inadequate care or neglect of residents of such homes and the advice given to the families of those residents in respect of a guarantee of anonymity when concerns need to be raised.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether proposals are in place anent the introduction of a system of administrative penalties for fisheries offences committed by the skippers or owners of fishing vessels in fishing grounds policed by the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency and whether such a legal procedure could be used in respect of offenders whose vessels are registered in other European Union states.
