Question reference: S5W-36225

  • Asked by: Shona Robison, MSP for Dundee City East, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: 12 March 2021
  • Current status: Answered by Michael Matheson on 23 March 2021

Question

To ask the Scottish Government how many people in Dundee receive concessionary bus travel, broken down by eligibility type, and how many people it estimates will receive this when eligibility is rolled out to under-22s.

Answer

The National Concessionary Travel Scheme provides eligible applicants free bus travel through the National Entitlement Card (NEC).

The Improvement Service is responsible for the management of the NEC, the application process and provides overall governance for the data management of cardholders.

Therefore, Transport Scotland does not have access to the information requested but the Improvement Service should be able to provide it, and they can be contacted at [email protected]

Regarding the roll out of the under 22s concessionary travel scheme, we estimate that there are around 30,000 residents of Dundee, who are aged between 5 and 21, who may benefit from this.
