Question
To ask the Scottish Government what meetings it has had with the (a) energy, (b) house building, (c) environment and (d) community sectors regarding the national developments to be incorporated in the National Planning Framework 4.
Answer
No decisions have been made on the national developments that may be included in the draft National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) this autumn and we have not proactively organised meetings with these sectors to discuss national developments.
Suggestions for national developments were invited during the early engagement ‘Call for Ideas’ period, which closed at the end of April 2020. Between May 2020 and 8 March 2021, officials from the Scottish Government’s Planning and Architecture Division have accepted invitations to discuss national developments from a variety of organisations listed below:
Aberdeen Harbour Board
Cairngorms National Park Authority
Drax
East Lothian Council
Forth Ports
Grangemouth Investment Zone Group
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority
National Walking and Cycling Network Steering Group
NatureScot
Orkney Islands Council
Peel Ports
Scottish Power Energy Networks
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks
Sustrans
Wallace Land
Preparation of NPF4 is also being supported by a range of impact assessments and we have commissioned and met with AECOM and LUC consultancies to support our assessment of candidate National Developments. We are also engaging with Public Health Scotland on this work.
