We welcome Community Land Scotland’s supportive commentary on the strategic Community Wealth Building (CWB) approach to economic development into all aspects of ownership and governance of land in Scotland.

CWB has a role to play in ensuring our journey towards net-zero is fair for all and that we achieve a just transition to an economy focused equally on prosperity and wellbeing. This includes the use of Land and Property, one of five key pillars of the CWB model.

To advance Community Wealth Building in Scotland, we have committed to introducing legislation during this Parliamentary session. This will involve consideration of a wide range of views and proposals.

Changes to the response to automatic fire alarm signals are an operational matter for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

SFRS will work closely with duty holders to prepare for the change of response which will be implemented in April 2023.

Current build plans indicate that R100 contract build in the ML3 7XW postcode area is expected to be completed by 30 June 2022. However, as with all large infrastructure projects, these timescales can be subject to change, due to factors outwith our control.

Since 21 July 2021 representatives of the small brewing sector have met the Scottish Government on a number of occasions to discuss Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme (DRS); most recently, representatives of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) discussed DRS with the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy on 24 March 2022.

SIBA is also a member of the DRS System-Wide Assurance Group, which ensures that the views of small brewers continue to be heard as industry implements our DRS.

The bidding prospectus underlines the Scottish Government’s commitment to a Fair Work First approach, and also the commitment of all of Scotland’s local authorities. We would therefore hope and expect that all bids would reflect that. We have made clear that the Scottish Government will only support applications which include clear commitments on this front.
