The Scottish Parliament is now dissolved ahead of the election on Thursday 7 May 2026.

During dissolution, there are no MSPs and no parliamentary business can take place.

Long Leases (Scotland) Bill

The Long Leases (Scotland) Bill was introduced on 10 November 2010 [Session 3]

This was a Government Bill. Government Bills before September 2012 were known as Executive Bills.



Bill falls

The Bill fell on 22 March 2011

If a majority of MSPs vote against a Bill or it runs out of time then the Bill will not pass.
