That the Parliament welcomes the news that the RNLI has no plans to close Stonehaven Lifeboat Station; understands that RNLI Stonehaven’s B class inshore lifeboat has been operating since 2014, supported by the all-weather lifeboats from Aberdeen and Montrose for offshore and bad weather work; notes that the station has just completed a two-year trial of a B-Class Atlantic 75 inshore lifeboat, which resulted in a very strong recommendation that the station be made a permanent RNLI base; acknowledges that this recommendation was approved by the trustees and that work is now underway to secure a permanent shore works solution to support the operation of a lifeboat; recognises that the station has also been earmarked to receive a new Atlantic 85 lifeboat in 2019; believes that this demonstrates the long-term commitment of the RNLI to Stonehaven; acknowledges that this lifesaving service is provided by volunteers; is immensely grateful for their selfless and courageous work; applauds the RNLI fundraisers and general public for their support, and acknowledges the wider safety and prevention work of the RNLI, in partnership with Water Safety Scotland, which aims to reduce the incidence of drowning and to encourage water, coastal and maritime users to enjoy their activity safely.
