David Hutchinson Appointed an OBE for his Dedication to Offshore Safety

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 10 June 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-17637

That the Parliament congratulates David Hutchinson, who is from Meikle Wartle, on being appointed an OBE by The Queen in recognition of his dedication to offshore diving safety; commends David on his efforts to ensure that every diver who goes to work comes back injury-free and with their lives intact; recognises that his career in diving began in the 1970s, which was a time when many in that occupation lost their lives as a result of venturing below sea level to work on offshore installations and spending up to 28 days at a time locked in a pressurised tanker under the water; thanks David for his continued dedication, and wishes him all the best.
