Justice Committee

Meeting date: Tuesday, December 8, 2020

Contents

European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018

Civil, Criminal and Family Justice (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020

The Convener (Adam Tomkins)

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Justice Committee’s 32nd meeting in 2020. We have no apologies.

Our only agenda item in public is consideration of a consent notification on a United Kingdom statutory instrument. I refer members to the relevant papers in our pack, which note that the Scottish ministers believe that the changes in the proposed regulations are necessary to ensure the continued effective operation of the law.

Do members wish to make any points? If they do, I ask them to indicate that in the chat function on BlueJeans. No member has indicated that they have points to make.

Does any member disagree with the Scottish Government’s view that it should consent to the relevant changes being made by the UK Government? No member has indicated that they disagree, so I shall arrange for the publication of a short factual report with our findings on the regulations.

I close the public part of the meeting. The committee will next meet on 15 December, when we expect to start taking evidence in public on the Domestic Abuse (Protection) (Scotland) Bill at stage 1. I invite members to move to Microsoft Teams to continue our meeting in private.

10:02 Meeting continued in private until 11:03.
