European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018

Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Motor Fuel Emissions (Miscellaneous Amendments) (EU Exit) Regulations 2021

The Convener (Gordon Lindhurst)

Good morning and welcome to the Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee’s 10th meeting in 2021. Apologies have been received from committee member Alex Rowley.

Agenda item 1 is the Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Motor Fuel Emissions (Miscellaneous Amendments) (EU Exit) Regulations 2021. The committee has been asked to consider a notification from the Scottish Government regarding the regulations.

The purpose of the proposed statutory instrument is to amend domestic law that was enacted to implement European Union law in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency and motor fuel emissions. In the main, the amendments make minor and technical changes to the relevant law to ensure that it operates effectively following the end of the transition period. In addition, the SI proposes to remove certain requirements for the United Kingdom to report to the EU and the European Commission on aspects of energy efficiency.

If any member wishes to comment on the notification, they should type in the chat box.

There are no comments to be made. Is the committee content for those issues to be dealt with by statutory instrument laid at Westminster?

All are content. Thank you. I will write to the minister to notify him of the committee’s decision.

This is our last meeting in session 5. I thank everyone who has contributed positively to the work of the committee in this parliamentary session. The list of those people would, of course, be lengthy, and I certainly would not attempt to give a comprehensive list. However, I thank the committee members—both past and present—the committee clerks, all the parliamentary staff and those who have given evidence to the committee. In particular, I thank members of the public and non-politicos who have given evidence or made submissions during this session.

Best wishes to one and all for the future—and, finally, goodbye.

Meeting closed at 09:32.
