That the Parliament commends all of the volunteers, and all past volunteers, who have given their time over the years to the Aberdeen-based charity, TLC, as it enters its 20th year of serving the region; recognises the work it does, as an affiliated food bank of the Trussell Trust (Aberdeen South Foodbank), distributing food parcels, providing support and signposting advice to those in financial crisis; further recognises its past work running primary school breakfast clubs and youth outreach projects (partnering with organisations such as Aberdeen Football Club); congratulates TLC on rolling out the Aberdeen Befriending Project in consultation with a number of charitable and statutory organisations, including Aberdeen’s Third Sector Interface (ACVO), the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and the Aberdeen Heath and Social Care Partnership, to tackle loneliness and isolation, which has always been present in the community, but has been heightened this year during the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns, which can have a crippling effect on people’s mental and physical wellbeing; further congratulates TLC on receiving sponsorship from Royal Dutch Shell to develop an exciting social enterprise café at Aberdeen’s Union Square; gives thanks to the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre for providing sponsorship of a van, which has increased TLCs effectiveness in delivering food parcels during the pandemic; praises the organisational effort and skill used in bringing all of this together; notes the humble beginnings of TLC, which was founded by Rick and Amy Brooks in their front room and has expanded from there; further notes that, as TLC enters its 20th year, it has helped more than 100,000 people across the North East region, and wishes TLC all of the very best in its future endeavours.
