That the Parliament welcomes the decision by Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation (AUK/BLF) to grant £628,826 to five research projects on mesothelioma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF); further welcomes that part of the grant is to be awarded to Dr Daniel Murphy of the University of Glasgow, for the research project “Diagnosing Mesothelioma from its effect on the nearby immune system"; understands that over 200 Scots are diagnosed with mesothelioma each year and over 2,500 people live with IPF in Scotland, of which there is no cure, and commits to supporting people living with lung conditions by implementing the Respiratory Care Action Plan.
