Nursing Support Workers' Day

That the Parliament celebrates Nursing Support Workers' Day, which falls on 23 November 2021; appreciates the crucial role that nursing support workers play in multidisciplinary and nursing teams; recognises RCN Scotland's efforts to achieve full recognition for these workers since 2018 as part of its campaign, We Care; acknowledges the scope of responsibilities assigned to them, including as health care support workers, care assistants, carers and senior carers, support workers, health care assistants and assistant practitioners; notes reports that there is a shortage of nursing staff across both health and social care settings across the country, and thanks the 35,000 carers working in adult social care and the 21,500 nursing support workers in Scotland for the invaluable work that they perform.
