  • Submitted by: Emma Harper, South Scotland, Scottish National Party.

  • Motion reference: S6M-00984

That the Parliament congratulates the organisers and sponsors, Upper Nithsdale Tourism Partnership, Dumfries and Galloway Council and EventScotland, on organising the Sanquhar Arts Festival, which ran during the last weekend in August; understands that the Sanquhar Arts Festival, which debuted in 2019 and was held virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 restrictions, offered a packed programme of pandemic-safe and socially-distanced displays, exhibitions and performances for people from all walks of life to attend; notes that this year's festival included a pop-up cinema, model-makers, art displays, woodwork workshops, puppet shows, spooky stories from Dumfries Mostly Ghostly, sewing, flower arrangements, a praxinoscope display and much more, including musical events at the Crawick Multiverse; wishes the Sanquhar Arts Festival every success for the future, and thanks them for continuing with this important event in 2021.
