Youth Highland's Where's Your Head At? Book Launch

  • Submitted by: Rhoda Grant, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 25 May 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00098

That the Parliament congratulates Youth Highland on the online launch event for the book, Where’s Your Head At?, which shares testimonies and artwork of young people in a testing time; notes the words of the Children and Young People’s Commissioner, Bruce Adamson, who said at the event that mental health and poverty are the biggest issues facing young people since the COVID-19 pandemic struck; recognises that the Commissioner has deemed the book as a really helpful human rights tool; encourages young people to continue to speak on issues affecting them and supports the view expressed that the pandemic, although challenging, provides a clean slate to improve support services for young people and not to return to old systems and processes; considers the profound statement that "websites can’t listen" to be a lynch-pin in creating better physical services for young people; congratulates Youth Highland for providing the forum for young people’s voices to be heard, and wishes it, and its service users, well in continuing to evolve to ensure the views and opinions of young people are heard by decision makers.
