Forth Valley Men's Shed and Wee County Veterans Present Memorial Bench to Local Veteran

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 12 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12825

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a Clackmannanshire Armed Forces veteran and his family will be able to remember his late wife, thanks to a memorial bench provided as a result of a collaboration between Forth Valley Men's Shed and Wee County Veterans; understands that the organisations teamed up to present Joe Farrell with a bench in memory of his late wife, Margaret, which will be placed at the rear of Joe's house at Paton Court in Alloa; believes that Joe is a senior member of the support group, Wee County Veterans, which regularly meets at Sauchie Resource Centre, whilst Margaret was an avid supporter of the group for many years; notes that Forth Valley Men's Shed, in Alloa, has worked closely with the veterans' group in recent years, making souvenirs and other items for those who served in the armed forces; further notes that the Wee County Veterans will be holding an open day on 13 April 2024, and that all military veterans are being invited to the event at Sauchie Resource Centre on the day, with a chance to learn about the group and its activities, and commends Forth Valley Men’s Shed, Wee County Veterans and everyone involved for what it sees as their highly magnanimous work.
