That the Parliament warmly welcomes the 127th annual STUC Congress, taking place in Dundee on the week commencing 15 April 2024; believes that the Congress, titled "Workers Winning Together", represents the largest gathering of trade unionists from throughout Scotland and beyond; further believes that the Congress, which is representative of over 550,000 workers in Scotland, looks set to call for further powers for the Scottish Parliament over welfare, migration and employment rights, with a key demand to devolve the entirety of employment law to the Scottish Parliament; notes the STUC news release stating that workers throughout the country have secured over £4 billion worth of pay and pensions deals over the past two years; believes that this shows the strength of workers organising in collective voice to fight for fairness, equality and parity, both within and outwith the workplace; notes what it sees as the Congress’s unequivocal solidarity with the people of Palestine and the reiteration of the STUC’s call for an immediate ceasefire within the region; wishes all delegates, including STUC President, Mike Arnott of Dundee Trades Council, a successful Congress, and pledges to work closely with the trade union movement in Scotland to achieve Scotland’s status as a Fair Work Nation by 2025.
