Congratulations to Jasmin Paris on Completing the Barkley Marathons Race

  • Submitted by: Jeremy Balfour, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 26 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12645

That the Parliament congratulates Jasmin Paris, from Midlothian, on being the first woman to finish the Barkley Marathons in Tennessee; notes that it is one of the world’s hardest ultramarathons, at 100 miles long with 60,000 feet of climb and descent; understands that Jasmin ran for 59 hours, 58 minutes and 21 seconds, which is just over one minute and 39 seconds below the 60-hour cut-off time; further understands that only 20 people have ever completed this race within 60 hours; believes that Jasmin’s contribution to the sport is outstanding, and wishes her continued success in future.
