Bishopbriggs Fire Station Finishes Top in Scotland in the "Bag it and Bank it" Recycling Campaign

That the Parliament congratulates Bishopbriggs Fire Station for finishing in top place in Scotland in a nationwide "Bag it and Bank it" recycling campaign, in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity; commends the local firefighters for collecting an amazing 3,280kg, or 3.2 tonnes, of clothing on-site during the month of January 2024, which raised £722; notes that, across Scotland, there are more than 100 clothing banks located at fire stations and encourages people to donate wherever they live, if their local fire station has a yellow clothing bank outside; applauds the charity’s campaign for helping to divert more than 480 tonnes of clothing from landfill across the whole of the UK; understands that the annual campaign this year raised a record-breaking £101,524 to support The Fire Fighters Charity’s vital work to protect the wellbeing of fire service personnel; praises the 997 fire stations that took part nationwide, across 44 fire and rescue services, and thanks the public for their support in helping to make this fantastic recycling effort such a success.
